🎟️ 1. Book Your Entrance Ticket in Advance

Walk-in tickets are no longer guaranteed. Every visitor must:

✔ Reserve a specific date
✔ Choose a time slot
✔ Select an official circuit (route)

Tickets often sell out weeks or even months ahead in high season (May–October), so early booking is highly recommended.

⏰ 2. Entry Is Now by Time Slot

Visitors enter Machu Picchu in fixed hourly windows, usually between:

6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

You must arrive during your assigned time — late arrivals may not be allowed in.

Once inside, each circuit allows a limited visit time, meaning you can no longer stay all day freely.

🧭 3. Follow the Official Circuits

To preserve the site, visitors must now follow designated one-way routes:

🔹 Circuit 1 – Panoramic Views

Upper viewpoints for classic photos and scenery

🔹 Circuit 2 – Classic Route (most complete)

Main temples, terraces, and iconic areas

🔹 Circuit 3 – Lower Royal Sector

Sacred fountains and royal buildings

👉 You cannot switch circuits once inside.

⛰️ 4. Mountain Hikes Require Special Tickets

If you wish to hike:

• Huayna Picchu
• Machu Picchu Mountain

These require separate limited-entry tickets purchased in advance and usually sell out quickly.

🚌 5. Bus Transportation from Town to the Ruins

The only official bus service is operated by Consettur.

📍 Buses run from Aguas Calientes to the Machu Picchu entrance
⏱ Depart every 5–10 minutes
🕒 Ride time: about 25–30 minutes

Bus tickets are purchased separately from your entrance ticket.

🚆 6. Train Access to Aguas Calientes

There is no road access to the town — all visitors arrive by train, most commonly from Ollantaytambo.

Main operators include:

PeruRail
Inca Rail

Booking in advance is strongly recommended during busy seasons.

🛂 7. Always Carry Your Passport

You will be asked to show your passport several times:

✔ Train stations
✔ Boarding the train
✔ Bus checkpoints
✔ Entrance to Machu Picchu
✔ Hotel check-in (if staying overnight)

📌 You can also request the famous Machu Picchu souvenir stamp in your passport after your visit.

🌿 8. Help Protect This Historic Site

Disposable plastic bottles are discouraged under new conservation rules.
Visitors are encouraged to bring:

✔ Reusable water bottles or canteens
✔ Eco-friendly travel items

Small actions help preserve Machu Picchu for future generations.
